Japan

Personal freight for extended stays in Japan.

More than luggage. Less than a move.

A stay of several weeks or months is easier when the things you rely on can be there without traveling in your hands. Amble gives you one protected trunk for the belongings you want with you, whether they travel alongside you or separately.

Pack a suitcase in your trunk.

Choose a suitcase that fits inside your Amble trunk and pack around it. One container arrives. Unpack it and you have two.

A suitcase packed inside travels with the trunk, even when the trunk travels separately from you.

Use the suitcase for shorter trips during your stay. Keep the trunk for the things that stay at your accommodation.

Your packing can change as your stay changes.

One trunk. Two ways to move.

Travel with your trunk

When your packed trunk meets your airline’s baggage requirements, it can travel with you as checked baggage. This could be useful, for example, when traveling between Hawaiʻi and Japan.

Airline weight, size, itinerary, aircraft, fees and acceptance rules apply.

Let your trunk travel separately

For heavier loads, or when you’d rather not travel with it, your trunk can move as air cargo. Amble is developing this route to Japan, starting from Los Angeles (LAX), with a local handoff at the destination.

Capacity for the longer stay

F trunk: 50 kg / 110 lb net capacity
T trunk: 70 kg / 154 lb net capacity

Net capacity is your contents, not counting the empty trunk.

Airline baggage limits apply to the total packed weight of the trunk, not its net capacity. A trunk packed to its full Amble capacity is intended to move as freight, not conventional checked baggage.

Pack lighter when the trunk travels with you. Use more of its capacity through the appropriate freight network.

Why Japan

In Japan, sending belongings ahead instead of carrying them throughout the journey is already familiar. Amble applies that idea to a standardized trunk designed for extended stays and repeat movement.

The same trunk, every time.

Each Amble trunk is registered to you and keeps its identity and movement history as you use it again.

Standardized. Reusable. Registered to you.

The trunk stays the same. The way it moves can change.

Status: In development

The first trunk sent separately to Japan will establish the operating details and local handoff before the route opens more widely.
